Deaguero or DeAguero is my family name. When I was quite young (13 or 14) my father took our family to see the Euscade (spelling) dancers who were performing at the University of New Mexico. I recall that he told me our ancestors came from the part of Spain that the dancers represented. My father and his older brother and three sisters were orphaned during the 1918 Influenza Pandemic, his father Jose Ygnacio Deaguero having passed in 1914 from dropsy. Quite recently I was thrilled to meet many of my Deaguero/Chacon relatives and we have been living close to each other for thirty years! Several years ago I was once told by a Dr. Stanley Hordes that there were many Jewish people from the Spanish/French border that came to the new world with Columbus and their descendants live in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico.
