Mostly found in Transylvania, Romania. If we look back 5 generations, the oldest information I have starts with Stefan Gocan originally from Padureni, Cluj (46.874132, 23.594242) where he had a liquor store (Fagadau) After he sold it he moved to Campenesti near Feurdeni, Cluj, Romania where he purchased a lot of land. Most of the Gocan name currently is found around Cluj-Napoca area today. There are scarce Romanian written documents to rely on.
