This is my Grandmothers maiden name.Noelie, Julian,Harriet, Gybels. Her father John Gybels was disinherited for marrying a poor Protestant, as his family was wealthy and Catholic. She grew up with her older brother Noel and older sister Maria in the historical district of Liege Belgium during WWII, immigrating to US after the war with my Grandfather and Aunt. There is such secrecy with this name as I discover many scientists and Drs to have it but no origins ,and the name has no meaning. I have traced it back to Bavaria and Bohemia and it was said to be of Jewish origin. And once I accidentally stumbled upon it in some writings where this name was direct servant to a king , perhaps French. Not certain.if I remember correctly .the era was Medieval times. Is there anyone who might shed light on this mysterious family?
