One strain of the name Pfohl emanated from Bohemia (today Czech Republic), leaving Bohemia in 1632 and going to Bojanowa in Poland. This person(s) were allied with Moravian religious activities. From this line, Christian Thomas Pfohl was called to be the Inspector of the Moravian Boys School in Salem, North Carolina in 1791. In 1801, he became the Moravian pastor at their church in Bethania, North Carolina, and he served in that capacity for 21 years. His father was also a Moravian pastor, and he served in Gnadenberg, Prussia (Silesia), Stetten in Vor Pommern, Herrnhut in Saxony and his service also was for over 50 years.
