Carey is a variant form of Cary. Castle, but sometimes a corruption of Carew, q.v. Caer is pronounced, in Corish, "cerry," "carry," or "cary." Adam de Karry was living in county Somerset in 1198, and John Carew or Cary, of the same couunty, emigrated to N. E. circa 1637.
