Saffull is the variant form of the Saville. One who came from Saville or Sauville, i.e., willow estate, in France.

Saffull is the variation of Savile. One of the most illustrious families of the E. Riding of Yorkshire, where they are said to have existed in the XII century. In the thirteenth, they were certainly flourishing in those parts. Some writers have fancifully ascribed to them an Italian origin. The name is probably Norman, and it seems to be represented in Holinshed's list by Sent Vile.
